Cook Off Weekend!

Linking up with Sami this morning for Weekend Shenanigans! I was still pretty sleepy when I woke up this morning, but I had a great weekend. Too bad today is not a holiday, that would have been nice (wishful thinking).....I hope everyone had good weekend!! This weekend in Houston was the official kick off to The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo! If you are not familiar with Cook Off (Also known as the World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest) it's basically a huge 3 day party with several hundred BBQ cook off teams that compete as well as bands, dancing, eating, drinking and most important helping raise money for charity scholarships! There are over 200,000 people that come out!

YEEHAW!!

I came home to new shoes on Friday!! I'm looking forward to Spring!

Starting off my Saturday morning off right!

A beautiful sunset at Cook off

Greg and I getting ready to head to one of our tents!

First things first, some BBQ and an ice cold beer!

Josh, Greg and Collin

Lisa, Laila and I

We did a lot of tent hopping on Saturday night and we found a band that is AWESOME!!
Cannot wait to see them again soon!

So much fun!!

Ready to Rodeo!

Sunday we had lunch at our favorite food truck and picked up a few plants!

We planted a few things here and there, while we had a little observer!
Then we rode our bikes around! It was such a beautiful day out!!

Valentines Weekend

Morning!! I first want to welcome all of my new readers, thanks for joining me!! I hit 100 followers last week and it blew me away, thanks Allison for being the 100th! I cannot wait to get to know more bloggers and I could literally spend hours upon hours jumping from one blog page to another! Blogging seriously rocks!! Happy Presidents Day (Washington's Birthday), especially to all the lucky ones that get the day off!! I sure wish I did!!

Even though Valentine's Day was on Thursday, I never had time to do a recap. My weekend was also very low key as I was under the weather :(

I can remember thinking that my mom had way too much seasonal decor for almost every holiday!! Now that I'm an adult I guess the apple does not fall far from the tress, because I just cannot help myself when I see new seasonal items!! So I'm sorry mom, I get it now, lol!

Ever since Greg and I started dating we always go out to dinner for our birthdays, but we cook at home for Valentines! It's stress free and we enjoy coking some of our favorite foods!
Baked brie with honey!
Wine and Champs!
  Our steak and lobster dinner!!

Linking up with Sami today!!!

Saw it. Pinned it. Did it. - Man Bouquet

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!!

Today is my first time linking up with Steph and Katie for Saw it. Pinned it. Did it.!! So excited!! I have been allocating myself some time to get a little crafty!!!

I pinned this cute manly man bouquet and just had to attempt it!

I had so much fun with this project because you can tailor it to anyone's likes and interests! I picked up a few things here and there I know Greg really likes, so I hope he gets a kick out of it!!
I used the following:
Small plant pot
Wooden skewers
Shredded paper/bag (that what the bag calls it)
Styrofoam
&
A few goodies

Step 1
Add the styrofoam to the bottom of the pot (don't be afraid to reuse items you already have)

Step 2
Add the shredded paper/bag filler

Have a drink break! I made a little festive cocktail

Okay, back to project
Step 3
Start gluing your items to the skewers and wait for them to dry!! Very important, lol

Final step- Just start placing things in your bouquet however you see fit

TADA!!! May the Saw it. Pinned it. Did it. Force be with you!!
Haha

I had a blast with this and I'm currently working on another DIY, so I shall be hopefully be back next week!! Thank you Stephanie and Katie this is so much FUN!!

Ash Wednesday (the first day of lent) 2013

Today marks the first day of  the season of Lent. While most will be giving up certain things and/or abstaining from meat on Fridays for the next 40 days, there is much more to lent. This is the season of penance, reflections and fasting which prepares us for Christ's Resurrection on Easter Sunday. I will be going to an Ash Wednesday service at lunch today to receive my ashes. The ashes are from blessed palms used from the Palm Sunday celebration of the previous year and the ashes are marked on ones forehead in the shape of a cross as a symbol of penance. I'm planning on doing lots of praying and penance this year. I will be giving a few things up for Lent and I will also be abstaining form meat on Fridays.
With that being said, I will start posting more meatless recipes throughout Lent!

Remember that thou art dust, and to dust thou shalt return.

Turn away from sin and be faithful to the Gospel.

Lots of Brunching!!

Before I even get into this post I would like to mention that I ate everything under the sun this past weekend. Well maybe not the sun because the sun was actually nonexistent, but I think you are picking up what I'm laying down!! Haha! I had brunch on Saturday and Sunday! I can officially say that it is time to get back on the wagon!! Like for real!

Saturday I hosted a brunch with girlfriends at my house!! We had a sweetheart brunch and it was so much fun!! All things pink, red and bubbly!!

My friend Laila made these super cute and delicious cookies!!

We even had a very special afternoon visitor!!
Sophia, my friend Lisa's daughter!

Some of my home decor!
It was a great afternoon!!

Sunday was pretty much a repeat, but I ventured to the Houston Zoo for my Zoo organizations beastly brunch! This year's theme was Mardi Gras!!
A Bloody Mary bar, St. Arnold's beer, Deep Eddy vodka and lots of beads!!!!
The best part of the day for me was the Cheetah presentation!!
I could just kick myself for not taking my fancy camera, but with the rain and all of the excitement I would have had to of babysit and I just wanted to have FUN!

Would you just look at that face...MEOW!!!! #wildcatladyinthemaking

All in all is was a great weekend with lots of food!!!

Yesterday morning while I was sitting my cave office, I heard pitter patters on the roof. I got up ran to the nearest window and saw HAIL!!! Crazy!! It was coming down so fast!
